I taught my second EFL class yesterday, and without a doubt had a great time. I couldn't have imagined how much fun I could have, as a teacher, with my students. It truly made me love teaching. Actually, a couple of Italian women really showed me up in the first lesson, which was hilarious. They knew more about Horoscopes than I did, and I was the one giving them the lesson! My second lesson went even better, the topic of "Dishonesty" really triggering their imagination, and language skills! To make my day even better (I taught at 1:30 p.m.), when I went to get dinner at a local Pizza place around the corner, I was able to really work on my Italian. The lady working at Pizza Pulcinella was extremely friendly, asking me all about myself, and in the end, I was able to convince her to come to the school to take some English lessons...maybe I'll even teach her!
As I'm writing this, however, I can't help but feel stressed out. I have my third lesson today, starting at 6:30 P.M, which means I won't be able to go come until 8:30 or later. I'm teaching the same Elementary class I had for my first lesson, and hopefully this time I'll do better. The lesson is called "Lost in the Jungle," where finally they will have to work out how to find their way to safety using information from a reading (that I made up), a map and some clues. It's hard to explain in writing...but I think they will have fun and learn a lot all the same.
I promise that I'll post more about what I've been doing outside of classes, but for now, I don't have the time or the brain power to do it. Pictures will be coming soon as well!
Oh, and post comments or any questions! ;) I'd like to know what people are thinking, and questions will help me write what you really want to know. Don't get me wrong, I know you are all DYING to know all about my classes!! :)
