All journeys have their beginnings...

I'm procrastinating, as usual. There seems to be a certain point in my day where I need to ignore my essays, the never ending confusion of Italian and French readings due the next day, the political and social attitudes and beliefs of two different countries during two different times... a time where I ignore my immediate world around me, the to-do lists and stress...to simply relax and think. My words fall into place like errant puzzle pieces, fighting to find the right fit. I could try to avoid the old adages: that I have so much to do and so little time; the regular run of the mill clichés that invade our everyday conversations; but truly for me,it serves its purpose. 60 days have passed since my acceptance in the Bologna Consortial Studies Program (BCSP) for 2010-2011 of next year. Almost 2 years have passed from that time where all options were open to me as I skimmed through the undergraduate catalog in my College of Liberal Arts advising office waiting for my name to be called. Decades, it seems, from the time I sat down with my advisor and explored all of the available Major and study abroad options at my disposal...to simply decide on a whim that yes, I think Italian is pretty, and Bologna sounds like a interesting place. Why not?

That was almost two years ago. I now have a mere 12 days left in the United States, 288 hours in Milwaukee, before I drive the hour and a half to O'Hare and into the stuffy cabin of Swiss Air.

12 days. It no longer feels like a far off adventure, one of my many dreams.288 hours.
